A two day Workshop on Problem Based Learning at CPSP Centre ,Hayatabad Peshawar concludes

A two day workshop on the Need and Path to Change Undergraduate Medical Curriculum and Mode of Instructions to problem Based Learning (PBL) organized by Khyber Medical University Peshawar has been concluded here at CPSP Centre Hayatabad Peshawar. Vice Chancellor KMU was the chief guest on the occasion. The workshop aimed to discuss and sensitize the participants on adaptation of PBL system at undergraduate level at Public Sector Medical and Dental Colleges of the province. Four each participants from all the Public Sector Medical and Dental Colleges including a Private Colleges of the province participated in the workshop.

VC KMU Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hafizullah while delivering his speech as chief guest at the concluding session said that KMU has proud to initiate this type of discussion on PBL. He said that change in the curriculum and mode of instruction at undergraduate level in the field of Medical Education was the need of the hour, together efforts in this regard will bring the fruit at par Inshallah. He appreciated the active participatory role of the senior faculty members of the Public Sector Medical and Dental Colleges of the province and hoped that they will be continue their support and co-operation in adaptation of PBL.

VC KMU assured the participant that KMU would like to continue its support and facilitation in terms of training, infrastructure and human resources development to fulfill the requirements of the affiliated medical and dental colleges of the province.

Change in curriculum and evaluation system will be adopted through mutual discussion and consultation, he added. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hafizullah said that medical education facing a lot of problems therefore KMU has decided to bridge the gapes through involving all the Public Sector Medical and Dental Colleges of the province.

A Committee comprises of two faculty members from each Medical College of the province was also framed to review and analyze the over all curriculum and evaluation system at undergraduate level. In the end VC KMU thanked the participants and especially the facilitators Prof.Dr. Syed Shoaib Hussain Shah , Prof. Mobeen Iqbal from Shifa International Islamabad and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Idrees from Rawalpindi Medical College Rawalpindi.
