Honourable Minister Health Inaugurates Institute of Basic Medical Sciences

Syed Zahir Ali Shah Minister of Health Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has said that education and health are the two most priorities of the present democratically elected government, therefore we consider expenditures on these two sectors as an investment for the better and bright future of the people of this province, he was addressing as chief guest o the inauguration ceremony of the  newly established Institute of Basic Medical Sciences (IBMS) at Khyber Medical University (KMU), VC KMU Prof. Dr. Mohammad Hafizullah, DG PDA Qazi Laiq Ahmad, Registrar KMU Dr. Fazal Mahmood, Treasurer Mr. Abdus Siddiq, Controller of Exam Prof. Dr. Shahnaz Akhtar, Consultant R&D Dr. Tasleem Akhtar and other key officers of KMU were also present at the occasion.















Syed Zahir Ali Shah, who is also the Pro-Chancellor of the University highly appreciated the achievements of the University and desired that it should continue its progress as role model for the whole region. In this connection he especially appreciated the efforts of VC KMU and hoped that KMU will continue its struggle under the dynamic leadership of Prof. Dr. Mohammad Hafizullah for achieving the desirable goals set by KMU as vision 2015.




The Health Minister while congratulating the KMU team for establishing IBMS as the first institute of its nature in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has said that in the past the two most important public sectors i.e health and education were neglected but the present government has given vital importance to these two essential sectors.


            Referring to the University future plans the health minister said that we definitely would like to have more institutions to produce scholars and experts in various disciplines of health sciences. He said that provincial government will provide all possible support to KMU for materializing its future plans in the greater interest of the province.



            Earlier while delivering the welcome address the VC KMU said that IBMS is being established in order to achieve the long awaited requirement of developing the academic faculties in Basic Medical Sciences of all medical institutes of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He highlighted that one of the top priorities of KMU is to revamp the medical education and bring it at par with the international standards. KMU strives bridging this gap and offering opportunities for basic training and research leading to M. Phil and PhD for the doctors of the country in general and that of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in particular. He said that the prime objectives of the IBMS is to establish state of the art teaching and learning opportunities for faculty, to promote culture of international quality research, evidence based clinical practice and efficient health care delivery systems.




            Highlighting the prospects of the newly established IBMS, Prof. Dr. Jawad Ahmad Dir. IBMS said that Mission of  IBMS is to develop the academic faculty, flourish research and technology to  the international standards so that to benefit medical institutions and  industry which will ultimately lead to the growth of a prosperous society. He maintained that in future IBMS will be the major hub of International quality of academic & research activities in the field of Basic Medical Sciences. Linkages will be developed with leading institutions nationally and internationally for collaboration and exposure of local research scholars. The community will be the ultimate beneficiary due to better health facilities. Development of human resource, research and technology in IBMS will ultimately lead to a multidimensional spectrum of development, he added
          


Earlier Minister of Health along with VC KMU, DG PDA, Registrar, Treasurer and other officials of KMU formally inaugurated the new campus of IBMS situated at Shalman Park Phase VI Hayatabad, Peshawar. The Health Minister later on also visited under development sites of Peshawar Institute of Cardiology and KMU at phase V Hayatabad Peshawar.

  • Application on prescribed form along with recent passport size photograph, attested copies of educational testimonials (degrees/certificates & DMCs), experience certificates (from government/semi government/autonomous bodies) and copy of Computerized National Identity Card along with a Bank receipt of Rs.600/- for the posts of BPS-16 and above & Rs: 150/- for the posts of BPS-7 to BPS-14 (application processing fee) nonrefundable, duly deposited in (Account No.1450-8, National Bank of Pakistan, Hayatabad Township Br:(1759) Peshawar) in favour of Khyber Medical University, should reach to office of the undersigned on or before 8th  March, 2011 before closing hours.
  • In service candidates should apply through proper channel. They must submit NOC from their concerned Departments/Organizations along with their respective application forms.
  • Selection shall be made in the manner prescribed by the University. Only short listed candidates will be called for the test/interview.
  • No TA/DA shall be admissible for appearing in test &interview.
  • Separate application form is to be submitted for each post, which should reach to KMU, Peshawar in due date and time.
  • Incomplete application form without required documents (i.e. Bank draft + testimonials etc.) or those received after the due date shall not be acceptable/entertained.
