Meeting regarding Professional MBBS/BDS Examinations for the Academic Year 2020-21 in Khyber Medical University

 

MEETING REGARDING PROFESSIONAL MBBS/BDS EXAMINATIONS FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2020-21

The meeting of all Principals/Deans of Constituents/ Affiliated Medical and Dental Colleges of KMU was held on 09.09.2020 under the chairmanship of Honorable Vice Chancellor, Khyber Medical University Prof Zia Ul Haq. Following were physically present during the meeting.

After detailed discussion & input from all the participants below decisions were made;
(1) To conduct monthly online meeting between worthy VC, KMU and Honorable Deans/Principals to discuss ongoing issues of medical education and further improve the current teaching and assessment with mutual collaboration.
(2) Considering the current COVID scenario, it was unanimously decided to delay all MBBS/BDS professional exams by 4 weeks from their announced dates. KMU to issue revise schedule at earliest.
(3) Medical and Dental Colleges will open by 15th September as per Govt. decision. KMU will share SOPs based on HEC & NCOC guidelines for Medical, Dental and Allied Health Sciences colleges/institutes & their hostels across the province. The institutions can adapt these SOPs as per their own requirements/ground situation.
(4) Although the damage due to COVID-19 is unprecedented and irreversible but Colleges and KMU will try their level best to cover the gap. KMU will make sure to issue result in days rather than weeks.
(5) Continuous efforts have been made by KMU and colleges over the years to reduce the duration of MBBS studies from 7 years to 5 years. KMU will try its maximum to cope with timelines for timely completion of MBBS, BDS and allied health studies for the students enrolled with KMU despite the fact that Corona virus has clamped its tentacles around the globe.
 

 

Handing Over Various PCR Kits For Corona Tests to KMU PHRL

 

 PCR Kits for Corona Tests  are handed over to KMU PHRL

Islamic Relief Pakistan, in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), has donated various PCR kits for corona tests worth Rs.04 million to Khyber Medical University Public Health Reference Laboratory (KMU-PHRL) and Saidu Sharif Teaching Hospital (STH), Swat.

The handing over ceremony was held at KMU Senate Hall in which KMU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq, Registrar Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Gandapur, Director PHLR Dr. Yasir Yousafzai, Additional Director Dr. Asif Ali, WHO Representative Dr. Syed Akbar, Islamic Relief Area Program Manager Syed Usman, MS Saidu Teaching Hospital, Swat Dr. Muhammad Naeem Awan and other concerned officials were also present.

It is worth mentioning that Islamic Relief in collaboration with the WHO has provided worth Rs. 04 million PCR kits for corona tests including Pippete Tips 11520, PCR strips 4000, Ependrof tubes 5600 and Cryo vials 3000 these kits will be distributed between KMU-PHRL and SHT Swat with the ratio of 60 and 40 % respectively.

Meanwhile, addressing the function, KMU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zia-ul-Haq said that KMU and SHT, Swat have served the province on the front line during the Corona Outbreak. Besides government institutions other international organizations and WHO have also praised their exemplary role, he added.

The VC KMU highlighted that donation of various kits of PCR tests of Corona worth Rs. 04 million is on one side is a symbol of  blind trust on KMU and STH and on other side this generous assistance will also provide free corona tests facility to the poor people of the province. He said that we are all proud of the service rendered by the staff of KMU PHRL and STH, Swat day and night against the Corona pandemic and hopefully this untired  service to humanity would be keep continue with the same enthusiasm and passion.  

It is essential to mention here that one thousand corona tests are being conducted daily in KMU-PHRL while three hundred corona tests are being carried out on daily basis in Saidu Teaching Hospital, Swat. Whereas so far in both these institutions there are approximately 117000 and 27000 corona tests have been done respectively during the past five months.

Prof. Dr. Zia-ul-Haq on the occasion thanked the concerned officials of Islamic Relief and WHO for their trust in KMU and for their generous cooperation and hoped that this sequence of bilateral cooperation would continue in the future as well.

Vice Chancellor Khyber Medical University Meets University Staff at Lunch

 

University’s staff team and hard work is commendable: Vice Chancellor KMU

Khyber Medical University (KMU) Peshawar in the short span of its establishment today stands at the highest level of knowledge, research, financial and administrative discipline is the result of exemplary cooperation and excellent teamwork among the staff of all cadres of the University, especially the role of Class III and Class IV employees in the process is unforgettable. These views were expressed by KMU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zia-ul-Haq along with Registrar Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Gandapur during a meeting with the Class III and Class IV employees of the University regarding their issues. Besides Director Finance Wasim Riaz, Director Admission Muhammad Arshad Khan, Director ORIC Dr Zohaib Khan, Director QEC Asiya Bukhari, Deputy Director Audit Arshad Khan, Deputy Director P&D Amjad Hussain, Deputy Director IT Muhammad Sohail and a large number of other officers and officials were present at the occasion.
Prof. Dr. Zia-ul-Haq said that there is no substitute for hard work and sincerity, in the progress of life only those institutions were successful whose staff performs their duties with honesty and dedication. “Keeping in mind the large scale unemployment, it is a great honor for all of us to get jobs in different positions in an organization like KMU and the more we thank Allah Almighty for it, the less it will be”, he added.
He said that KMU is the source of sustenance for all of us and by fulfilling this duty with sincerity and honesty we can make it a source of halal income for ourselves and our families. Prof. Dr. Zia-ul-Haq said that all the problems of Class III and Class IV, especially the issue of their promotion, would be resolved on priority basis. He said that promotion is a basic right of every employee and by removing the obstacles in this regard, this right will be given to them in accordance with the rules and regulations of the university. He urged the staff to focus on enhancing their education and professional skills and the university will provide them with all possible support.
Responding to a question on allocating seats for children of staff in the constituent institutes of the university, the vice chancellor said that the university would look into the matter in the light of the higher courts decisions and prevailing laws and if there was no legal impediment this demand will be put on the agenda of the university’s syndicate. He hoped that all the staff of the university especially the Class III and IV employees would continue to perform their duties with more honesty and sincerity. Finally, the Class III and IV employees thanked the Vice Chancellor and the university administration and assured them of their continued support in achieving the goals and objectives of the university.
