Workshop on Clinical Research Methods and Bio Statistics & SPSS concludes
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hafizullah Vice Chancellor Khyber Medical University (KMU) Peshawar has said that the purpose of organizing workshop on “Clinical Research Methods and Bio Statistics & SPSS” was to enhance the understanding and to increase the capacity in research of KMU PhD Scholars. He was speaking as chief guest to the concluding session of the six days workshop held here at KMU Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (IPM&R) Peshawar.
He said that this training is a part of KMU’s comprehensive strategy for providing opportunities of training to the new KMU PhD Scholars. The important component of the strategy include setting of research priorities and development of clinical research agenda, development and implementation of comprehensive training programme for PhD scholars.
Prof Dr. Muhammad Hafizullah said that the continuation of such kind of learning and capacity building initiatives in the field of Medical Research is highly appreciable. He said that KMU has arranged 20 PhD scholarships in various subjects of Basic Medical Sciences, which will enable us to coup with the shortage of qualified PhD experts in the so far neglected field of basic medical sciences. He said provision of 20 scholarships to the young medical graduates of the province was a sign of our commitment to provide research and training opportunities to our new young medical graduates.
VC KMU Prof. Dr. Mohammad Hafizullah appreciated the participatory role of the young PhD Scholars and said that organizing such kind of learning and capacity building activities will help effectively the PhD Scholars during their upcoming PhD programme.
Earlier, Consultant Research and Development KMU Dr. Tasleem Akhtar said that this workshop aimed to orientate participants to the terms and concepts of science and research, the research process and methods, application of statistical methods, and evidence-based medicine - introducing the concepts of met analysis and systematic review to give hand on training on Bio Statistical and the use of SPSS package for health research data analysis. In the end chief guest distributed certificates among the participants.
